About BaiManus
A grassroots digital media movement amplifying the voices of rural Maharashtra
Why BaiManus?
BaiManus was founded to address a fundamental gap in Maharashtra's media landscape, where millions of Dalit, tribal, nomadic, farming, and rural communities remain underrepresented due to the dominance of male-centric and elite-driven news ecosystems. Launched by senior journalist Prashant Pawar in collaboration with MGM University's College of Journalism and Mass Communication, BaiManus is an independent, women-led community media platform that uses modern digital tools, mobile journalism, and grassroots reporting to democratize who tells stories and whose stories get told.
Our mission is to amplify marginalized voices with integrity and accuracy; our vision is a media environment where every woman and every village is represented with dignity and agency. Through field-rooted reporting, community correspondents, multimedia storytelling, and an editorial framework free from ideological or political influence, BaiManus practices people-oriented journalism that is honest to the soil—bringing clarity and context amid the noise of information and ensuring that the realities, questions, and struggles of ordinary people remain at the center of public discourse.
