- Nathpanthi Dvari is a kirtanakar of the Gosavi community
- 60 years of awakening of Maharashtra, more than 4500 kirtans
- Stuck today
Dr. Narayan Bhosle
In all regions of Maharashtra, in all languages and in all sects, this form of kirtan is practiced for entertainment and propagation of thought. The kirtan form has been used by many branches of the sathyashodaka community. Co. Sharad Patil insisting that his lecture should end with kirtan. Although the Varkari sect used this form for the spread of devotion, it seems to have been used for the spread of nationalism during the period of the Indian independence movement. Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj as he did kirtan for social elegance. Sant Gadge MaharajHe also performed kirtan. These two great men produced many such kirtanakars, one name that is stuck isSaint Meerabai Babaji Bhosle…
Mirabai became lonely…
For one, Meerabai, who enlightened Maharashtra for almost sixty years with Bhingari on her feet, performed 4500 kirtans digesting bitter-sweet experiences, performed kirtans in a variety of ways that captured the hearts of the people with lines of poetry, elegant but simple music, performance acting and rare light dance, devotional. And in the form of an enlightening story, a monologue and a multi-syllabic statement as per the requirement, that Mirabai is living a virtually lonely life today in her seventies. Mother is gone, father is gone, brother is gone, husband is gone, no child, no own house, no money for medicine. While in such a state, my ears started to hear less, the sight became less, the knee pain made it impossible to get up-sit-walk. The relatives left and Mirabai became lonely.
Mirabai, who was illiterate, learned letters at home with the help of her father. Mr. Bamani (T. Sangola, Dist. Solapur) is the village of his father. Mirabai is number three among seven siblings. In it, only brothers satsangat in kirtan. The rest were short-lived. Meerabai, who has been doing kirtan since the age of seven-eight with her mother, father, brother, brother-in-law, has done thousands of enlightenment programs, but being born in a wandering beggar caste, she did not get even the simple honor of the government court. They have nothing except the government's remuneration of one thousand rupees for artists. He had once done thousands of programs of enlightenment, but now his face showed the contrast of living a lonely life. They are living in a small hut of paper. It was surprising to see the books read by Meerabai, who was fond of devotional literature… Kirtan Sindhu, Bhakti Gnana Vairagya, Dnyaneshwari, Shivlilamrita, Pandavapratap, Harivijaya, Javini Ashwamedha, Dasbodh, Kashikhand, Navnath Kathasara, Bhagwat, Pancharatna Gita, Tukaram Gatha, Grama Gita were bought by her at that time. Took and understood and used it in his kirtan.
Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj
Disciple of Tukdoji Maharaj
Tukdoji Maharaj is known as a national saint. He effectively used bhajans and kirtanas to eradicate superstition and caste discrimination. Meerabai, who was his direct disciple, spent her whole life doing social and national integration awareness programs. When Mirabai joined Tukdoji Maharaj's women's branch, she began to convince society through kirtan that the family system, social system, caste system and state system depended on women. How unjust it is to keep women in ignorance and servitude. He very effectively cites lines from the saint's Abhanga and village songs. Mirabai faced many of the caste differences of the saint.

Many abhangs from the sagas of Tukarams were sung by Meerabai Leela and rendered in kirtan. Santani did not discriminate, they said that humans should do it. Saint Gadgebaba used to wander in different villages for social justice. Along with him, Meerabai performed kirtans all over Maharashtra on the topics of social justice, reform and cleanliness. Mirabai's kirtan was a part of public enlightenment. Through his kirtan, he used to criticize the hypocrisy and customs of society. Gadgebaba taught cleanliness and character while convincing society about the importance of education. Meerabai also pulled Gadgebabi's ree forward and presented Tukaram's abhang.

Gadge Maharaj was a social reformer who worked passionately to eradicate ignorance, superstition, and uncleanliness among the poor and downtrodden. "Tirthi Dhondapani Dev Rokda Sajjani" is a great saint who serves the poor, orphans, disabled people is Gadgebaba. "Don't go to temple, don't worship idols, don't take loans from moneylenders, don't be rustic, don't believe in pothi-purana, mantra-tantra, devadevski, miracles" he taught people through kirtan throughout his life, the same teaching was passed on by Mirabai. This saint, who found God in man, started Dharamshalas, Orphanages, Ashrams and Vidyalayas for the orphans from the money donated by the people. This was also Mirabai's wish. He felt it necessary to build a monastery for that, but he did not get enough money and expressed his regret that his unfulfilled dream was not fulfilled.
All of Tai's family were kirtankars. Similarly, in this Nathpanthi Davari Gosavi nomadic tribe, the tradition of singing, playing kirtan or composing songs is old. Many Shahirs like Shahir Lakhmu Ingole, Kundlik Ingole, Sitaram Chowgule, Bhairu Chowgule, Ganpat Shegar were born in this tribe, but none came to the fore except Chhagan Chowgule. His art was only useful for sustenance and did not turn into wealth.
