What is the history of the Bhamta community?
'Soldier' means 'Bhamti Samaj'. Due to the Muslim invasion of Rajputana, many warrior tribes were scattered across India along with their chieftains, subhedars and community members. Lived fighting with foreign invaders. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj blew the trumpet of Swarajya. The freedom struggle started. The Bhamti community fought bravely in it. Their fight went on till the implementation of English in Maharashtra. Bhamti is a fearless society that bravely faced the invasion of Aryas and gave shocks to foreign invasions according to the changing times. Like the tribes in the forest, these tribes also continued to fight. It was from this that the independence war of the revolutionary Umaji Naik against the British was ignited. Fighters from the Bhamti community also participated with them. They were attacking the British and looting their treasures. Ramoshi, Vadar, Bhamti-Bhamta, Pardeshi Bhamta, Rajput Bhamta etc. fourteen tribes of Vimuktas were included in it. The British government imprisoned him in an open prison. On August 31, 1952, Nehruji freed him from this.

The Bhamti community is scattered throughout Nagpur, Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Akola districts of Vidarbha and Parbhani, Jintur, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur. There are sub-castes such as Patil, Raut, Perki, Rajput, Pardeshi Bhamta/Bhamti. So far there has been no roti-beti trade between sub-castes. But now this transaction is happening sporadically. The level of education is minimal. For the development of this society,'Akhil Adivasi, Vimukt, Nomadic Tribes Development and Research Institute'.Also'Maharashtra State Bhamti Samaj Sangathan'wasestablished. Society is enlightened through this organization.
The main occupation of the Bhamti community is linen. Boru, used to make suits, charhads out of linen spun from flax and used to go to bazaars to sell them. Pass it on. His life history was that he used to wander from village to village in Boru Flax fields. There were no owned villages. So there was no house. Later, some tribes settled on the basis of villages. Some took farm land, reared cattle. We are Mawle of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, so in our society we have surnames like Mawle, Maratha. During the time of the British, our society was living in the valley. The community earned its livelihood by adopting the linen business. Our community engaged in the business of making ropes, bullock ropes, has now been alienated from its traditional occupation. Officials of the Bhamti community said that they are now making a living by accepting occupations such as agriculture, education, and employment.
They were stamped with criminality while fighting the English power, looting their treasures. He was vilified as a thief, a robber. Superstition, illiteracy, ignorance, always sat on the back of my neck. But now organizations are working to bring them into the mainstream of society for their development.
